E3: When Vikings Attack is good for drunken party play

Okay, soState of Emergencywasn’t theGTA III-killer that Rockstar hyped it up to be. So, what? Sometimes it’s fun to play an embarrassingly dumb game about throwing things into other things. I want to flip cars and incite an angry mob! ThoughSoEis forgotten by most,When Vikings Attackcaptures that same kinetic energy and stupidity, albeit in arcade form. When Vikings Attackis a top-down brawler combined with dodge ball. Sounds awesome, right? You control a mob and throw things at enemy mobs, until you clear the small rectangular arena and are shuffled off to the next one....

Free-to-play shooter Loadout coming to PS4 as a console exclusive

Wow, this trailer. I’m in love with that upbeat music. Edge of Reality is bringing its free-to-play shooterLoadoutto PlayStation 4 as a console exclusive. Some three million people are already playing iton PCand while I’m not one of them, not yet, I’ve given it serious thought — but, “free-to-play.” Hmm. Does look like silly fun, though. The main draw besides the messed-up cartoonish gore and, uh, nontraditional characters is an extensive weapon crafting system with “billions of combinations....

Friday Night Fights: RIP, Bad Company 2

This is it. The last Friday night beforeBattlefield 3replaces the go-to FNF game of many a Dtoider, myself included. Am I sad? A little. After all, I’ve spent more Fridays playingBattlefield: Bad Company 2than probably any other game since I started hosting FNF, and every one of them has been an absolute delight. I’ve killed more enemies, revived more teammates and captured more M-COM stations than I can even count, but every one of those kills, revives and captures holds a place in my heart, and always will....

Gearbox is actually buffing a few legendaries inBorderlands 3, but not for the reasons you think. The Mayhem 2.0 difficulty is on its way, and Gearbox wants to get ahead of it before a lot of guns feel underwhelming. Google says searches can predict 84% of game sales

A Google whitepaper called “Understanding the Modern Gamer” shows that gamer behavior can be tracked through searches, and shows that there is a link between searches and game sales. One of their key bulletpoints from the paper says that 84 percent of game sales can be predicted from our searches. They found some pretty fascinating stuff in their tracking of searches for the top 20 games of 2010 and 2011. They used their data to create a model and found that if a game nets 250,000 clicks in the 10 months around its launch, it will sell somewhere between 2 and 4 million copies in the first four months....

Here’s how to unlock Luigi in Super Mario Bros. 35

Rank up, first AlthoughSuper Mario Bros. 35has some issues in regards to its endgame, it’s a fun little treat to boot up every now and then and a nice way to dive back into a classic. One of the things I liked about it was its penchant for tiny little Easter eggs, which includes this newly discovered trick: you can play as Luigi. Sure, it’s just a color swap for the most part, but Twitter user CombotronRobot managed to uncover the secret and I’m sure it’ll get a lot of people talking about the battle royale release again....
