Psychonauts 2 seems to be on the right track

MIND FREAK! The story ofPsychonautsis one of the happiest underdog stories in recent memory. The original launched to critical acclaim in 2005 but underperformed so badly that plans for a sequel were scrapped fairly early on. The relative failure of the game forced publisherMajesco to step away from video gamesfor a few years. While Tim Schafer and his team at Double Fine would produce games in the following years, it seemed like a continuation as Raz’s story would never come to light....

Red Faction: Guerrilla multiplayer demo coming May 21

Ben PerLee and I were at aRed Faction: Guerrillaevent earlier this week where we got some extensive hands-on time with the game’s multiplayer offerings. We’re under embargo so we can’t say much about the game yet. I can say, however, that the multiplayer mode is extremely fun. Expect a preview from me tomorrow evening as well as an interview from Ben on the multiplayer. Red Faction: Guerrillais coming out June 2, but I don’t think I can wait that long to play the game again....

Reel Fishing: Road Trip Adventure takes a cue from Persona

I mean, hey, at least it got my attention 2019 could finally be the year that I get intoReel Fishing. The series stretches back to the PlayStation 1 days, and it has since had stints on Wii, 3DS, and most recently PlayStation Vita. The latest game from Natsume– next month’sReel Fishing: Road Trip Adventure– has my attention for two reasons. One: it’s on Nintendo Switch (and also PlayStation 4). A few months ago, I decided I needed a decent fishing game on my Switch, but after some false starts, nothing ever made it into my shopping cart....

Review: Thrustmaster TMX Force Feedback Wheel

Basically the T150, but for Xbox One and PC As a gamer with limited experience playing driving sims, I have often underestimated the effect that a nice racing wheel can have on player experience. I’ll often enjoy playingEuro Truck SimulatororForza Horizoncasually, but I’m aware I’m missing out on at least some of the appeal of realistic driving experiences. While I have owned low-end racing wheels in the past, the Thrustmaster TMX is the first medium range gaming wheel I have put significant time into using, and I can certainly feel what the bump in cost brings to the table....

Totaling 1,000 gamerscore I was never going to reach Pirate Legend, but that doesn’t mean I can’t still have fun making a dent in the sluggishSea of Thievesachievement list. Coinciding with the game’s multifacetedAnniversary Updatethat adds The Arena, cooking, fishing, and Tall Tales, Rare has devised 43 new achievements. Basically, they’re designed to nudge players in the right direction as they explore the Anniversary Update on April 30 and beyond. That goes for PvP (are you ready to earn first place 100 different times?...

Secret of Mana remake’s lovely character art and Japanese cast

It’s like we never lost ’90s instruction manuals The remake of Square Enix’s classic SNES RPGSecret of Manais just a few months away. To further whet the appetites of nostalgic thirty-somethings, new art has been released of the game’s major players, along with the Japanese cast for the all new vocal soundtrack. The artwork has a misty-eyed nostalgia to it, with is muted colours and slightly off-scale heads recalling the art featured in the manuals of many a 16-bit RPG, I would sit in school classes badly sketching characters like these instead of studying algebra or biology, which is how I came to be The Industry’s Chris Moyse today....

SuperHyperCube should be a solid PlayStation VR launch title

A sort of Tetris x Hole in the Wall SuperHyperCubeis one of those games that’s much more challenging than it looks. The basic puzzle concept is simple, but you have to be in the right mindset. You have toget in the zone. You have a cube that’s flying towards a wall with a hole in it, and to keep the two from colliding, you need to turn it in such a way that it narrowly fits....

The creatures in this new Final Fantasy XV trailer sure look delicious

Get in my belly Back in the day when I playedWorld of Warcraft, one of my favorite things to do was just walk, run, ride and fly around the wonderfully crafted world of Azeroth. InXenoblade Chronicles X, seeing the sights of Mira brought me way more joy than attempting to complete the story. I’m a virtual explorer, and thanks to a bevy of trailers that showcase the astounding landscape of Eos, the next world I’m looking to conquer is the highly anticipated RPG andfood porn gameFinal Fantasy XV....

The Igavanias, ranked

Time to count the Counts Unless it was made by just one person, it’s a bad idea to give all the credit for a game’s success or failure to a single individual. Koji Igarashi has produced many of the best games intheCastlevaniaseries, but he’s far from the only reason that era of ‘vanias is so beloved. That said, withBloodstained: Ritual of the Night, he’s proven that even without Konami’s backing, and the entirety of his old production team behind him, he can still head up a great game....

This tricky DOTA 2 pro play involving wards is worth studying

Jerax with the Earth Spirit ruse DOTA 2is fun to watch both from a casual and hardcore perspective, especially if you have skilled casters breaking down the action at hand. This play by Jesse “Jerax” Vainikka at the PGL’s Bucharest Major this week makes a very good case for why said explanatory provisions are important. A huge part of many MOBA titles involve “wards,” items that are typically invisible and stationary, which allow players to scout out certain zones like a security camera of sorts....
