Live action Pokemon trailer inspires mixed emotions

On one hand, this an trailer shows a lot of love for the source material. They work in lines from the show as much as possible, usually with good comic effect. The special effects, while clearly fan made, are very well done for the style that they’re going for. Remember those realisticMarioand Kirby pics from a while back? The ones that took lovable, relate-able gaming mascots and turned them into creepy demons?...

Marvel Rivals’ latest update has everyone flying high—except tank players, but what else is new?

Marvel Rivalsseems to have an air traffic control problem at the onset of its season 2.5 update today, and it’s once again left Vanguard players in the lurch. I’ve played about a dozen matches ofMarvel Rivalstoday and the lobbies have been plagued with the newest hero Ultron (as you’d expect), but other flyers like Iron Man, Storm, and Human Torch, turning the game into a nightmare for tank players as there is little they can do to counter this kind of team composition....

MLB 15 The Show’s best improvement is revenge

A dish best served with my bat Sony San Diego’sMLB The Showseries has a mode where players can live out fantasies of being a professional baseball player. In “Road to the Show” players can design their own avatars and take them on the long journey from the amateur draft to the big leagues. It’s easily my favorite aspect of the game, marrying my love for baseball with an RPG progression system....

Modern Where’s Waldo-like Hidden Folks is mesmerizing

This could be a screensaver Certainly, the drawings shown here are works of art on their own, butHidden Folksreally comes alive in motion. It’s a far cry from the lastWhere’s Waldogame I remember playing, which featured a series of low-res pixel art static images on the NES. I don’t even know what I’m supposed to be looking for here, but that doesn’t make the looking any less cool.Hidden Folksis not only bustling, it’s interactive, so there’s more to do than just click on the thing after you’ve found it....

Podtoid 43 – Quotations, and the quoting quoters who quote them

I will be completely honest with you: throughout the entirety of this week’s episode, Jim sounds like the Predator and Aaron occasionally sounds like Max Headroom. As appropriate as this is given our robot-themed website, I thought you deserved some fair warning. Outside of the weird technical issues caused by a thunderstorm in BlindsideDorkville, this week we talked about our favorite gaming quotes, which, in turn, just served as an excuse to talk about philosophy and storytelling and control and auteur theory and rape without needing specific reasons to do so....

Prepare for the robot revolution: Researchers create childlike AI in Second Life

In a horrifying turn of events ripped straight from a sci-fi novel about the technopocalypse, researchers atRensselaerPolytech have created a virtual four year old that holds its own beliefs. Based on these beliefs, the virtual toddler is able to reason and draw logical conclusions in the manner of a child its “age”. In short, they’ve created the precursor to an artificial intelligence. They’ve named it Eddie. Eddie’s thought processes are driven by a massive array of supercomputers consisting ofPOWER-based Linux clusters, parallel Blue Gene supercomputers, and AMD Opteron processor-based clusters (and if there is a just and loving God in this universe at least one PS3)....
