Assassin’s Creed IV PS4 needs a patch for 1080p

Not this again Here I was, thinking that Infinity Ward’s day-oneCall of Duty: GhostsPlayStation 4 patch for native 1080p outputwas a fluke. Ubisoft will have a similar update coming “shortly after release” for the PS4 version ofAssassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, upping the resolution from 900p to 1080p and adding improved anta-aliasing. The post breaking the news is, well, it’s odd. The native 1080p support is pitched as this awesome thing while, at the same time, there’s discussion of some players not being able to perceive the difference in visual fidelity....

For now, do some alchemy to combine the above launch trailer and our very positive review ofthe originalBanner Sagaback in 2014and you should arrive in the ballpark of “Banner Saga 2is probably dope as heck.” Also! Bethesda’s not about to move to Unreal Engine anytime soon, says Skyrim’s Lead Designer

We’ve known for some time now thatThe Elder Scrolls 6would be built in Creation Engine 2, the very same game engine that powersStarfield. Whether that’s a good thing, nobody can currently tell, but a former Bethesda game designer has recently discussed this topic in an interview. Speaking with VideoGamer, Bruce Nesmith, who worked as the lead designer ofSkyrimand the systems designer forStarfield, explained a few things. Notably, his point is that Bethesda’s Creation Engine has been specifically fine-tuned to deliver the kind of sandbox RPG that the company is known for....

Blizzard’s latest Overwatch statue is Widowmaker

Magnifique Blizzard has already done statues forTracerandReaper, and up next, it’s Widowmaker. Pre-ordersare now openfor the 13.5-inchOverwatchstatue ahead of a planned Q3 2017 ship date. Not that it’s cheap, but at $150, this isn’t quite the wallet destroyer I was expecting. Take a peek (and then jolt back behind cover): As for the earlier statues, they now fall under the same branding umbrella. “All existing products in the Blizzard Collectibles line (like Illidan and Tracer) are open editions,”according to the company....

Can’t say I expected Strange Scaffold’s next game to be turn-based Ninja Turtles

Strange Scaffold has recently covered emotional abuse inEl Paso, Elsewhere, voyeurism inLife EaterandClockolding, and violent power fantasy inI Am Your Beast. Given that trend, I would not have guessed their next game would be a turn-based tactical game withTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtleslicensing. Uh, yeah, so as part of the PC Game Show, Strange Scaffold has announcedTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown, which is exactly as I described: turn-based turtles. “I get to make a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game where the very first lines of dialogue establish that Shredder and Splinter are dead....

Check out Red Hood in action in Batman: Arkham Knight

Sadly, a pre-order bonus Because Warner Bros. is Warner Bros., theRed Hood Story PackDLC forBatman: Arkham Knightwill be hidden behind a GameStop exclusive pre-order bonus. It’s a shame, because based on the video above, it actually looks kind of awesome. Speaking of the iconic villain, I watched theUnder the Red Hoodfilm last year and thoroughly enjoyed it — particularly John DiMaggio’s turn as The Joker. I wouldn’t mind seeing him perform in theArkhamgames....

Cyberbike trailer model looks less than enthralled

Cyberbiking takes the borlng old exercise bike routine and connects it to your Nintendo Wii to make it the action fun and exciting. Well, maybe. If you’ve watched the official trailer for Cyberbike, you’ll see a serious lack of enthusiasm from the video’s model. Exercise girl was surely instructed to look bored while riding a regular exercise bike. The problem here is that she looks just as bored on Cyberbike. Even her superimposed biking in-the-television shot lacks energy....

Dead Rising 3 is still very much a Dead Rising affair

‘More like Call of Duty’ doesn’t mean it won’t have wackiness afoot I know it’s easy to hate on the many shortcomings of the Xbox One, but one thing I never understood was the immediate hate unleashed uponDead Rising 3. Yes, the concept of “appealing toCall of Dutyfans” is a bit disappointing, but without a tad more footage, I wasn’t so sure the team would becompletelyignoring the franchise’s wacky roots....

Destiny and Red Bull are teaming up for some unclear reason

Ride the moon bull “Brand synergy!” the executive shouted, confident that his enthusiasm would rally his employees. “Forward-thinking leverage!” he followed up, unsure about the mumbo jumbo coming out of his mouth, but hoping his tone would inspire. He was a good Red Bull executive; he knew attitude trumped business know-how. And that’s how (I imagine) Bungie and Red Bull came to partner up for the September 8Destinylaunch event. The Red Bull Air Force team and a member of Bungie are skydiving into the Bellevue, Washington party, and Red Bull’s making a YouTube series about it all....
