How to Appraise a Fish in Fisch
Toappraisea fish inFisch, you have to visit theAppraiser NPC(450, 150, 210) inMoosewood. Each appraisal costsC$450, and every time you do it, the fish will bereturned to your inventorywithmodified stats(weight and potential mutation).
Note that if it wasfavoritedin your inventory, it willlose that statusonce you get it back. The Appraiser can also tell you thecurrent valueof your fish, whichyou should do before you start appraising.

Do Events (Shiny Surge, Mutation Surge, etc.) Affect Appraisal?
Yes, event-induced boosts to mutation chance work while appraising. So, it’s best toappraise all your fishduringMutation Surge,Shiny Surge, and other similar events. Aurora doesn’t affect mutation chance, so there is no reason to appraise during it.
When Should You Appraise?
As a rule of thumb, the only fish you want to appraise areMythic/Eventfish that areworth ~C$2,500 or more on average without any mutations. Fish that come to mind areColossal Squid, Isonade,Nessie, Great White Shark, Great Hammerhead Shark, etc.
Another reason to appraise is if the fish isseverely below the average weight. For example, even a relatively cheap fish such as theCaptain’s Goldfish(~C$2,000) isworth appraising if it’s weight is ~1Kg, which is basically theminimum. So, the weight can go only up from there.
All Fish Worth Appraising
Below is the list of all fish that are worth appraising. Also, becauseShiny/Sparklingmutationsstayevenafter appraisal, appraising any fish that isworth over C$2,500 with Shiny/Sparklingis also worth it. For example, a Moonfish is usually worth around 1,800, but with Shiny/Sparkling, its value is ~3,300, making it worth appraising.
So, to summarize: when you catch a fish you think is valuable, visit theAppraiser,check its price, and if it’sunderweightorreally expensive, start appraising it over and over again until it gets amodifieror bigger weightyou’re satisfied with.
Also, if you haven’t figured that out by now,don’t appraise fish that already have the Mythical or Atlantean mutations(from the Mythical Rod and theTrident Rod) since that will belostwith appraisal. The same goesfor theMidas mutationif you’re using the Midas rod.
