Self-described as ‘fantasy Iron Chef’

Trinket Studios’Battle Chef Brigadehas come out of seemingly nowhere, but looking over the first artwork for this fantasy cooking competition game, the team has surely been hard at work on the concept behind the scenes for quite some time. It screams “passion project” to me.

“Our goal is to create a game that affords the creativity displayed in cooking competitions (peanut butter fish!) while also introducing a humorous fantasy world with a cooking twist,” writes the developer. Before you even get to begin cooking, you’ll need to fight and kill monsters who you’re able to then use as ingredients. Magic will also come into play when preparing meals — from the sound of it, you’ll be able to buff pots, pans, and knifes.

I love everything I’ve seen so far, especially the character design of the judges. My main concern right now is how long it’ll take beforeBattle Chef Brigadeends up in our hands, but it should be out this year for Steam and consoles. Yeah, I can deal with that.
