Publisher claims exploit was intentional

Electronic Arts claims that theinfinite items exploitinDead Space 3is “not a glitch” and that the publisher has “no plans to issue a patch to change this aspect of the game.” Responding to aForbes inquiry, an EA representative stated this was a deliberate move and that they “encourage players to explore the game and discover the areas where resources respawn for free.”

The assertion follows astring of bad pressregarding the publisher’s decision to integrate a free-to-play model into their full retail product. Whether or not this is in fact a glitch, EA could probably stand to lose a few dollars from players who were unlikely to embrace these“in-app purchases”anyway. The publisher will make its money regardless, but at least this way it has some vague hope of gleaning a little customer goodwill from an otherwise overwhelmingly negative situation.
