It really goes whole hog
The Xbox One Elite Controller was unveiled at E3, and it was kind of the sleeper-hit of Microsoft’s showcase. The likes of game announcements andbackward compatibilitygot the most attention, but damn — that controller looks so good.
It does a lot too. This new video from Microsoft explains some of the finer features of the Elite Controller. Apart from the obvious button-mapping (which iscoming to all Xbox One controllerssoon), the video shows how to customize stick sensitivity, individual rumble intensity, and trigger responsiveness. Actually, you can program dead zones into the triggers so that you don’t accidentally misfire when you know you’re prone to doing that.
All that’s good doesn’t come cheap, however. The Elite Controllersells for $150. I tinkered with one at E3 and came away impressed by how sturdy it felt. In fact, it felt so good that I’m currently trying to talk myself out of buying a $150 Xbox controller.
