The new Riot Forge game builds up the Netflix library

Riot Games has been rolling out new announcements about its various games, all centered around the premiere of Netflix’sArcane. TheLeague of Legendsuniverse has expanded out to a card game and TV show, and now it’s coming to the runner genre withHextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Story.

Hextech Mayhemis developed byChoice Provisions, the makers ofBit.Trip RUNNER. Published under the Riot Forge label,Hextech Mayhemwill launch on Nintendo Switch and PC on Nov. 16, and “soon” on Netflix.

The rhythm-runner stars Ziggs, the explosive yordle, on a mayhem-infused trek through Piltover. You tap and explode to the beat of the music, all the while avoiding Heimerdinger, a scientist trying to make the mayhem stop. Can’t let that happen, right?

Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Storyis interesting for a few reasons, even if you’re not aLeague of Legendsaficionado. One, it’s a new project fromChoice Provisions, which garnered some acclaim for itsBit.Tripseries.

It’s also a new game coming to the Netflix service. It doesn’t have a launch date yet, butHextech Mayhemadding onto the Netflix lineup both makes sense as a tie-in withArcane, and will helpexpand that service’s offering a bit more.

It’s also another project from theRiot Forge publishing label, which is set to roll out projects based in theLeague of LegendsIP from various partner developers. One of those still in development isRuined King, a single-playerLeague of LegendsRPG from Airship Syndicate.

Hopefully there’s more to see soon, as Riot confirms in a press release that it will have new details to share aboutRuined Kingin the upcoming weeks. It seems likeArcanemight be the jumping off point for Riot’s big expansion plans forLeague of Legendsmoving forward. And honestly, if it turns out as good asthe first few episodesofArcanehave, it could be fun to follow.
