Oh my God. Oh myGod!
We’ve just received a billion tips about a brand new 2DSonic the Hedgehoggame to be published by Sega in 2010. According to the video, this is an all-newSonicgame in hi-def. The game is currently codenamed asProject Needlemouseand it looks like the idea is to create an old school game that evokes feelings of “proper” Sonic games.
I never thought they’d do it. I never thought they’d capitalize on the success ofMega Man 9and actually try to make a “real”Sonicagain, but perhaps I underestimated Sega. Still, some questions are unanswered — why does the sillouhette in the mystery logo not look likeSonic(it’s been pointed out that it might actually be the original logo and I am dumb)? Does theNeedlemousename have any meaning (it was an originalSoniccodename)? Will Sonic Team be doing this, and if so, will it just be 2D suckage?
Nobody knows, but for right now, I am very excited!
