The popularity and critical acclaim ofRemnant 2andits first major DLCprove that players are eager to immerse themselves into a game that’s loaded with secrets, with bosses featuring alternative kill scenarios and items. The Acidic Jawbone, for one, is a prime example of this.

While accessing some items inRemnant 2might meansolving unique musical puzzles, other times, it’s all about choosing the right dialogue option when prompted to do so. The Acidic Jawbone is a unique boss drop from Tal-Ratha, but it’s entirely possible that you’ve missed it on your first romp through N’erud. That’s because, on top of Tal-Ratha being justoneof two possible final boss encounters found in N’erud, he also has two distinctive boss fights, and you’re only going to be able to choose one over the other in a single playthrough.

The bad news, then, is that you might need to play through N’erud one more time if you haven’t yet fought Tal-Ratha in his metaphysical form. The good news is that getting the Acidic Jawbone to drop is nowhere near as big of a pain asgetting the Plasma Cutteris.

Fighting Tal-Ratha (Metaphysical)

As with most things inRemnant 2, you’ll need a bit of luck to come across Tal-Ratha while playing the N’erud section of the game. The first step is to get into contact with one of the two dominant NPCs you can encounter in N’erud: it’s going to be either the Navigator or Tal-Ratha, and if Tal-Ratha is the one to reach out first, you’re on the right track.

Once you’ve established that you’re in the right N’erud timeline, progress as you otherwise would until you finally reach Tal-Ratha in the gross, viscous flesh. At this point, the mutated creature is going to ask to eat you (for preservation purposes,of course), and you’ve got the pivotal decision to make:

The equation is simple, then: Tal-Ratha needs to be allowed to eat your character, and then he needs to be taken down a few pegs in open combat. Do note, however, that Tal-Ratha (Metaphysical) is a bit more challenging than he is in his real-world form, so you’re in for a heck of a fight.

Remnant 2: Gas Giant melee weapon

Once you’ve managed to carve your way out of Tal-Ratha’s soul and gut, you’ll have your very own Acidic Jawbone. For your troubles, the resident god-carver McCabe will be able to turn the leftover bone into a massive melee weapon: the Gas Giant.

The Gas Giant is a hammer made to vaguely resemble Tal-Ratha’s false visage. It’s a powerful, chunky weapon on its own, but the Dying Breath ability is what makes it really good, allowing players to dish out powerful Acid area-of-effect damage that sticks around for 15 seconds at a time. A lovely addition to anyRemnant 2player’s arsenal, we believe.
