No Man’s Skyis a game with limitless possibilities with so many planets, solar systems, and galaxies to explore. If you ever do stumble upon a planet that just feels like home for your character, and you want to settle in and make a cosy little place, you can do that too inNo Man’s Sky. There are many different construction options inNo Man’s Sky,allowing you to build homes, research centres, and more from scratch.

However, you do have to unlock the blueprints for construction objects. To unlock blueprints for base building, players have to purchase these blueprints from the Space Anomaly or they can also unlock more advanced blueprints from a Construction Research Unit in their base.

Purchasing base-building blueprints inNo Man’s Skyrequires Salvaged Data, which acts as a currency to get these blueprints. You can also trade Salvaged Data with NPC traders in the game, or sell them at a Galatic Trade Terminal.

There are other ways to get Salvaged Data inNo Man’s Sky, but they rely on chance. You may find them at Minor Settlements. These show up as Unknown Buildings in your Analysis Visor, but that’s a general term for all buildings, so you won’t know it is a Minor Settlement before you actually visit the building. Inside the Minor Settlement, you will find a Technology Merchant who may be selling Salvaged Data. There’s also a small chance you may find Salvaged Data in storage containers of Crashed Freighters, or as a gift from Merchants Guild envoy (if you have the required ranking).

Nexus and Mission Board missions sometimes have Salvaged Data as a reward. Missions from the Base Computer Archives also reward players with Salvaged Data.

So, if you come across Salvaged Data being sold, it’s best to grab them if you have Units to spare, but the best way is to look for Buried Technology Modules which are not too hard to look for, and always guarantee Salvaged Data as a reward. It can be quite a task when you have to specifically gather Salvaged Data to unlock multiple blueprints, so next time you come across a Buried Technology Module, take out some extra seconds to dig it up and grab the Salvaged Data.
