‘A mysterious demonic alien from Halley’s Comet’
Jesus: The Terrifying Bio Monsteris a 1989 Nintendo Famicom adventure game developed by Enix and published by King Records in Japan. It’s a pretty straight-forward port of a 1987 PC title simply calledJesus, but with worse graphics and some of the more sexually suggestive content cut out.
The PC game did well enough in Japan to garner a sequel, appropriately calledJesus II. Sadly, it looks like only the slightly inferior Famicom port has been fortunate enough to receive a fan translation up until now. Maybe that will change now that the originalJesusand its sequel are getting a big signal boost here on Destructoid dot com.
Jesus‘s story revolves around some people with colorful hair on a space station called JESUS that do battle with a mysterious demonic entity from Halley’s Comet. It’s a fairly linear “walking simulator” and according to those who have played it, there is no real way to lose. As long as you interact with the right rooms in the right way and in the right order, you’ll eventually make it to the end. So, if you have a few hours to spare today and feel like celebratingJesusfor some reason, this might be the way to go.
While you can’t die inJesus, you’ll probably die a lot inSpace Monster, the game-within-a-gamethat players can access through talking to one ofJesus‘s computer experts. Strangely enough, when you die inSpace Monster, you turn into a biblical angel, complete with a halo and a cross on your chest, as you fly up to heaven. I wonder if theHulkster is up there too?
