The official poster ofGTA 6, one of the most eagerly anticipated video games of the last few years, has been shared numerous times on social media. However,John Cenahas created ripples in the gaming and entertainment community after also chiming in.
Cena shared the official poster on his Instagram account in a cryptic post, which has opened a can of peculiar theories about what it could possibly mean. Here’s my take on the incident and why GTA fans (myself included) should not get too hyped up about it.
John Cena’s GTA 6 post is more of a meme than a leak
There’s always a chance for someone like John Cena to feature in a game likeGTA 6. The wrestler has already taken the lead in a number of movies, and we have seen plenty of actors joining the cast of video games. If there’s one publisher who can afford someone of Cena’s stature, it has to be Rockstar. Getting Cena inGTA 6might be the “most GTA 6 thing” possible.

However, the post could be more about a popular meme, which incidentally refers to how long we have been waiting for Rockstar to releaseGTA 6.We are yet to get a confirmed launch window, although it should be in 2025 (unless there are delays). Yet, it’s been a long time since we hadGTA 5, and much has happened in the world since.
In fact, fans have often used the term “we got… before GTA 6“, which again highlights how patient they have been. There are plenty of memorable memes about global events that few would have expected to happen. Yet, they did, and before the world could dive intoGTA 6.
I firmly believe that Cena’s recent post refers to his heel turn, which shocked me. In his own way, this is him saying“We got a John Cena Heel Turn before GTA 6”. Few would have seen this move coming into the start of 2025, as many had expected him to bid adieu to professional wrestling.
Hence, it’s best to hold on to your horses for now, and I will not think anything of it unless I see my favorite baby face (or ex-baby face) being shown in the game’s next trailer. While the possibility is always open, it’s safe to think otherwise, at least for now. That said, I sincerely hope that Rockstar will release the game as early as possible in 2025 so we can lay down the “We got XYZ before GTA 6” meme template for a well-deserved rest.
