There’s a Nintendo Direct in store for today, but ahead of the big stream,The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdompopped up on retail sites last night with a surprising price tag. On some sites, including the Nintendo store, the newZeldagame was listed with a price tag of $69.99.
As reported byNintendolifeandotherswho caught the original store page as it went up,Tears of the Kingdomwent live on the Nintendo Store last night with a $69.99 price tag. This listing was eventually taken down, but not before many took notice of the number.
Other retailershad pre-order pages upforTears of the Kingdombut havealso taken their pages down. It’s worth noting that at those retailers,The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomwas sitting at the standard $59.99 price point.

It’s a weird set of circumstances, all happening the night before Nintendo’sfirst big Directof 2023. ThoughTears of the Kingdomhadn’t popped onto the Nintendo eShop just yet, it still has its release date set for May 28, 2025.
More than likely, we’ll get more information aboutTears of the Kingdomtoday, as that launch date is getting closer and closer. Nintendo’s Switch games haven’t crossed the threshold into $70 territory yet, unlikesome other major publishers. Whether we see that line budged over or not, it will certainly be something fans are looking for in today’s stream.
The Nintendo Direct goes live onYouTubeand other channels at 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT. It’s expected to run roughly 40 minutes, and be mostly focused on Nintendo Switch games launching in the first half of 2023.
