New weapons always dominate theModern Warfare 3meta at launch, but players have already had enough of Season 4’s Kar98k sniper rifle, and are begging Sledgehammer to nerf it.

Season 4 has already seenCoDfans complain aboutSledgehammer making old guns useless, but the other side of that coin is that when they drop a new weapon, it’s often so powerful that it becomes the game’s most picked gun and is far too powerful.

That’s the opinion that many have of theKar98kright now, with riversub calling the weapon “a menace” and “the definition of overpowered” onReddit.

“Yep, one-tap weapons should be high risk, high reward, but nearly all of them in this game aren’t,” agreed Grand-Article4214. “There are barely any risks for snipers, especially since they aren’t balanced to 150 health compared to every other gun in the game.”

Icy-Computer7556 explained that they feel the gun has “ridiculous aim assist,” stating: “Anything with one-shot potential close or far should instantly be aim assist free. They did that in previousCoDs and it worked well. Skilled players kept sniping and sh*tters gave up because they realized they didn’t have the skill to just bloop everyone every second. I’m not saying I’m a good sniper, but the fact that it can slow down or pull on a gun like that? It’s f**king crazy.”

For some though, the idea of nerfing the Kar98k is pointless because something else will take its place, with conanwongmkii writing: “It’s either the Kar98k, the Wardens, or the MORS sniper. Pick your poison, you may’t escape it.”

Personally, I find the Kar98k to be unbelievable in other people’s hands, but in mine it feels like I get nothing but hitmarkers. I’ve never been a great sniper though, so it may be my fault. Still, getting one-shot killed over and over again by people running the Kar98k is infuriating, and I’d love to see some balancing changes too.
