Today,Bungieunveiled their newest, albeit uninspired, vehicle — the Mongoose! It’s official name is the M274 ULATV, but that doesn’t sound nearly as cool as “Mongoose” — which everyone knows is a fictional creature of unbelievable beauty, with a vast, golden plumage with curious medicinal properties. Kind of like the Warthog. Red vs. Blue jokes aside, the Mongoose (well,Halo 3as a whole), looks really pretty, although it doesn’t seem to be much more than a beautified 4-wheeler, an altogether domestic and redneck-ish, and fun, vehicle....

Also, Shantae on Wii U In an interesting turn, Nintendo has a great Nintendo Download week for us on Christmas Day. On the Wii U there’sShantae and the Pirate’s Cursewith a few extra upgrades like off-TV play. Additionally there’sDuck Hunt,Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World,Mario Party Advanceon the Wii U Virtual Console.Spy ChamelonandToon Tanksare also on the eShop. The 3DS isn’t getting much, as it’s only debutingPuzzlebox SetupandSuper Mario Bros....

Also,Breakers Collection Things are lower key this week for the eShop, with a few indies hitting the service: both newish and oldlish. A new home for indies? Last week,Kevin reportedon a surfacing trend of indie games finding success on the Nintendo Switch as potential players move toward it and away from the Nintendo 3DS. The handheld’s eShop might not be the best place for indies, but they seem to be performing splendidly on Nintendo’s prized home console. Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trapsold more on itthan any other platform combined. Now, two more developers have come forward to praise the Switch, saying they’ve also sold more copies of their games on it than any other platform....

The Liverpool team joins PlayStation Studios PlayStation is adding another studio to its lineup. Sonyannounced todaythat Firesprite will be joining the PlayStation Studios team. The Liverpool-based studio has previously collaborated on several Sony games, includingThe Playroomon PlayStation 4 andThe Playroom VRfor PS VR. It also developed the VR horror gameThe Persistence. A number of Firesprite developers also previously hailed from Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Studio Liverpool. Hold down R2 for a bit I haven’t startedEverybody’s Gone to the Raptureyet, but if I had, I’d probably be among the people wondering why such an exploration-heavy game doesn’t let players sprint. It does, though — hold down R2 for a few seconds to build up your movement speed. Why the confusion? The latest free Tall Tale mission has to do with Captain Pendragon and a ship called the Ashen Dragon. (How veryDark Soulsof you, Rare.)
