‘Thank you for your patience’ In the midst of last week’s E3 festivities, one helluva storm broke out upon the reveal that long-awaited RPG sequelShenmue IIIis to launch initially on Epic Games Store when it arrives on PC this November. This announcement infuriated a selection the game’s backers,who immediately inundated developer Ys Net with a slew of complaints. Some of these backers then requested refunds, either from the developer or direct from their payment sources, but matters were made worse when Ys Net and publisher Deep Silver announced that they would not be offering refunds for those who wished to receive the sequel via Steam....

You just need to build up courage Unknown Worlds’Subnauticais a sublime exploration-focused survival experience. I think it’s amongthe best in its class, and I’d recommend the game to just about anyone who isn’t deathly afraid of the ocean.Subnautica‘s alien scenery is beautiful and soothing at times, but it’s also full of unspeakable horrors as you work up the courage to push further out from the safety of the sunny shallows....

I’m going to be honest with you: solving the password puzzles inSuper Mario RPGis probably my least favorite part of the entire game. So we somehow missed the fact that the final episode ofThe Legend of Neilaired on October 25. Nevermind that we had no idea there were more episodes released before then too. Better late then never though, right? The series had its ups and downs, but I think all the episodes in the final season were pretty great. The final episode, especially with the hand-to-hand fight scene, was hilarious. Glad the the crew behind it all were able to properly finish things off and make something special forZeldafans everywhere....

And rewatch Total Recall InDestiny, the tops of long-lost skyscrapers poke through the surface of Mars which means, presumably, we’ll have to work our way down through them to reach whatever lurks below. I’m not expecting to find anything good down there, but conceptually, that’s pretty cool. The planets’ inhabitants — hulking creatures called the Cabal — are also among my favorite so far. Almost goes without saying, but I’mreadyfor September....

Express your attitude The underrated anouncement from Microsoft at this year’s E3 is the fresh new avatars coming later this year. They are much more animate and have higher quality models than before, now resembling the park-goers fromPlanet Coaster. There is a much better color wheel and options to use a wheelchair or even a robotic arm. Of course there are many costumes as well (don’t expect them to be free)....

The Next Penelope The Next Penelope, aRock ‘n’ Roll Racingstyle game based on the epicThe Odyssey, was pretty awesome. According to developer Aurelien Regard, it was also “always made for a Nintendo console” from the start, but it just hasn’t worked out in nearly two years since the PC version dropped. The difficulty apparently lies with HTML5. Regard has tried to move overPenelopewith “multiple companies,” and it hasn’t worked out. However, he’s praising Nintendo of Europe in the sense that they feel that a Switch version is possible, so he’s looking into it....
