We didn’t get any gameplay today

Just what we all wanted! Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto himself appeared onthis morning’s Nintendo Directto confirm thatPikmin 4would be out in 2023. No more aimless waiting!

Miyamoto said that althoughwe weren’t getting any gameplaytoday, we did get a single screenshot. According to Miyamoto, the gameplay is “simpler” this time around, with a focus on “dandori;” or “strategically deploying and commanding the Pikmin.”

Pikmin 4

It’s been a while sincePikmin 3, that’s for sure! This is all Nintendo had to say on the matter outside of the stream: “The first sneak peek at the next game in thePikminfranchise revealed a tranquil park and a napping Bulborb, but it was still missing one important element … Pikmin! Where could they be? More details about this new title for Nintendo Switch will be revealed ahead of its 2023 launch.”

So there you have it: a coy confirmation that we’ll get some sort of proper update onPikmin 4before it comes out. Though, the lack of gameplay today (as well as the lack of date announcements before May 2023) likely ensures that this will be a mid-to-late 2023 game. Again, all we have right now is “2023.”
