Creeps into the top of the UK Charts
Capcom’s latest jaunt into the world of survival horror,Resident Evil Village, has had a successful start, debuting at number one in the UK Charts. The creepy sequel saw the second-biggest physical launch of 2021 so far, behind Nintendo’sSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. In regards to UK physical sales,Villagesaw both the third biggest launch on the PS5 platform, and the second-largest launch on Xbox Series X/S.
As reported by GamesIndustry.biz,Resident Evil Villagedid not hit the same UK launch numbers of Capcom’s 2019 remakeResident Evil 2, nor did it hit the same launch numbers of 2017’sResident Evil VII. It should be noted that with each passing year, sales lean further toward digital sales, soVillage‘s true impact is yet to be ascertained. Assuredly, however, it has definitely been a hit.
Elsewhere in the charts Housemarque’s PS5 releaseReturnalhas already dropped out of the Top Ten, now sitting at number 15. Nintendo’s snap-happyNew Pokemon Snapshifts from number one to number two, while the remainder of the Top Ten is mostly rounded out with other Switch releases, includingAnimal Crossing: New Horizons,Ring Fit Adventure, andSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.
