Oh? Did I get your attention? Apparently, Samus’ death animation inSuper Metroidoriginally had her breaking out of her suit sans skivvies and letting loose a vocalized scream, but clothing was added to avoid controversy and the voice was removed for sounding too sexual. True story!

To the best of my knowledge, we haven’t shared a single episode ofDid You Know Gaming?on Dtoid before (and if we did, it completely passed me by). I myself only discovered it a couple months back, and I’ve been happily enjoying new videos since. For those unaware,Did You Know Gaming?is a videogame trivia show featuring a rotating cast of notable YouTube stars providing narration. Some of the information they discuss is extremely fascinating!

The latest installment focuses onMetroid, as you can see. I’m amazed by how many iconic design decisions in the earliest games were made around the limitations of the hardware. I’m also surprised to learn that Samus originally had distinct left- and right-facing sprites in her first outing.
