Is this the last time we’ll hear about this game?

Waiting to finally see more of Sony’s elusiveThe Last Guardian? You may be in for some disappointing news in the near future, as one eagle-eyedNeoGAF userdiscovered Sony has opted not to extend its trademark forThe Last Guardian.

According to the official listing that can befound herevia the office of patent and trademark in the United States, the trademark has been “abandoned” because “no Statement of Use or Extension Request timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued.” It’s important to note, however, Sony alsodid the same thingwith its previous trademark for the same game before.

But wait! Let’s not forget that Sony just went and confirmed thatThe Last Guardianwas still in development as of last August. This “abandonment” could very well mean that Sony’s simply gone with a new name for the game, or they’re planning on something else they haven’t quite yet shared. Whatever the case is, I sure wish they’d do something with the game or the name already. It’s starting to get a little frustrating at this point playing the old “will they or won’t they” game.
