If you’re looking forward to a slew of cool PS3 games to play this holiday season, you might want to dial your excitement back just a touch. Sony has declared it’ll focus on “family-friendly” games this Christmas, hoping to reach a “neglected” demographic. What,Carnival Islandwasn’t enough?

“We’d love to have multi-million sellers for the holiday. But each title needs time to develop, especially new IP likeThe Last of Us,” Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida toldGame Informer. “God of Warhas always come out in March, so that’s a natural time to aim at.

“Our strategy for Christmas is to go big on family-friendly titles. This is a neglected genre for the PlayStation 3, but as it matures, I think it’s really important to have these games on the platform. I think we have a great lineup this holiday to complement third parties’ big core games.”

Given Sony’sprior attemptstohit this market, I can’t say I’m too thrilled, especially if that onion-assWonderbookis part of the frivolity. Oh well. Between this and Microsoft’s new “videogames suck” attitude, I guess I’ll just stick to playingS.T.A.L.K.E.Rall through the holidays.
