Rejoice or weep Star Wars fans,Solo: A Star Wars Story’spoor performance might have just thrown a wrench into Disney’s plans to milk the Star Wars saga like an aging Bantha. Going off of a report from a Collider source, there is word that the anthology “Star Wars Stories” will be taking a pause so that Disney can properly plan outEpisode IXwhile also thinking about what the next trilogy of Star Wars movies will be about. This means that the already in development Obi-Wan spin-off is being paused as well as the planned Boba Fett and Lando Calrissian ones as well.
No official word has been given about this so remember this is all going off of a report but one would think that after the fans decreed they didn’t want to know Han Solo’s backstory that maybe a faceless corporation listened? Nah it was probably the fact thatSolohas barely recouped their shooting budget, reshoot budget, and marketing budget after fansvoted with their wallets as well.
It’s sad to see something you love get torn apart by a company that wants nothing more than to wring your nostalgia for every penny it’s worth so maybe this is a step in the right direction? For those of you who think firing Rian Johnson from a cannon is the right direction, one you’re wrong and two this pause will not affect his orGame of ThronesDavid Benioff and D.B. Weiss’s planned movie series. What those movies will entail is still up in the air but the going rumor is that they won’t have anything to do with the Skywalker saga so them not getting paused makes sense.
None of the movies that were paused were ever given an official release date and most of the news about the Obi-Wan spin-off was based on all talk and no action so this may blow over with things getting back on track before their rumored 2020 release window but who knows? The dark side of the force a.k.a. Disney clouds my vision.
