Immobilized and Stunned are similar, but not identical

InDiablo 4, a blanket term you’ll often see in skills and weapon descriptions isCrowd Control. This can sound confusing at first, but in short, Crowd Control refers to the 11 status effects that can debilitate you or your foes. Of these,ImmobilizedandStunnedare some of the hardest Crowd Control effects to distinguish. However, youcantell them apart.

In short, the difference between Immobilized and Stunned inDiablo 4is whether an enemy can still attack. A stunned foe can neither move nor attack while the effect is active. However, an immobilized enemy can’t move butcanattack. In other words, Immobolized foes can still pose a threat, especially if they can attack at long ranges.

Enemies Stunned and Immobilized in Diablo 4

While this may not seem like a big deal in the average flow of combat, knowing the difference between these two effects can impact certain builds inDiablo 4.

Why it’s important to separate these two

Like we said above, Stun and Immobilize both fall under the umbrella of Crowd Control. If your build has any skills or abilities that require a Crowd Controlled enemy to activate, then either of these will work.

However, you’ll come across certain effects thatspecificallyrequire Stun or Immobilize to activate. For example, the Barbarian’s Enhanced Double Swing will only trigger when enemies are Stunned or Knocked Down. Even if Immobilize has a similar effect to Stun, the two aren’t interchangeable. In other words, just make sure all the key words in your build line up.

With so many crowd control effects in the game, you might have trouble keeping track of them all. But at long as you remember that effects like Immobilized and Stunned are distinct inDiablo 4, you’re able to worry about memorizing every status ailment later.
