Wind and Truthis scheduled torelease on Friday, December 6, just in time for Christmas in case you know any Brandon Sanderson fans. You’ll want to make sure they haven’t bought it already, and have at least read the previous books. As the fifth and final entry in a story arc that began in 2010,Wind and Truthprobably isn’t the best jumping on point for Sanderson’s epic fantasy series.
This also isn’t the end ofThe Stormlight Archivesas a whole. Sanderson has said in the past he envisions the series as consisting of 10 books. So, whileWind and Truthis an ending per se, it only marks the halfway point of the wider saga. AfterWind and Truth, there will be a sequel series comprised of another five books; one set after a big time skip according toa 2017 Reddit AMASanderson hosted.

On August 08, 2025, Sanderson uploaded the prologue chapter forWind and Truthto his website. You canread it for yourself here, and it’s a chunky chapter, offering a new perspective on the night Gavilar, King of Alethkar, was assassinated. It’ll hopefully keep you satiated until the book’s full release, but Sanderson did note that this is a rough draft, so some details may be changed or tweaked in the final product.
