If the cap fits…
There are plenty of named locations around Hyrule inTears of the Kingdomthat make reference to previousZeldagames. For example, in the Korok forest, players can find Lake Saria and Mido Swamp, named after characters fromOcarina ofTime.
Similarly, you’ll find an island inTears of the Kingdomthat houses a more direct reference to a fan-favorite character.
Tingle Island Location & Directions
Tingel Island, or “Tingle Island” as it’s been called, is an island on the east side of Hyrule that references the character Tingle. Tingle has appeared in bothMajora’s Mask, andThe Wind Waker.
The island’s location is easy to find. On the right side of the map, under the swirling land mass of the Rist Peninsula, you’ll see a set of four islands. The island on the top is Tingel Island. There are two ways to reach the island.
First, you may fast travel to the Gatanisis Shrine, and use the updrafts to propel yourself up to the lower islands and work your way from there. Or, you can skydive from Gikaku Shrine on the sky island above the Rist Peninsula.
Once you’re there, there’s a chasm that you may use to get to the Depths. Since the Depths reflect the surface, this chasm connects you to the Depths version of all four islands. When you make your way down, you’ll notice that rocks cover a path on the south side of the wall. This lines up where the bridges are on the surface.
Use the surface map as a reference as you break through the rocks. If you’ve beaten the fire temple, Yunobo’s power will save you bombs and weapon durability.
Once you make it to the final island, you’ll find a chest, which contains the Cap of the Wind. The cap not only gives Link the hat he wore inThe Wind Waker, but it also makes reference to Tingle’s appearance in the game as well.
Be careful though, as spending too much time in the last room will causeGloom Handsto spawn. Grab the cap and get out if you don’t think you can take them on.
