I must confess that I didn’t even knowVanguard: Saga of Heroeswas still a thing. I haven’t seen hide nor hair of it in years; it seemed to just slink away after it was released. I recall almost picking it up a long time ago, only to end up buyingLord of the Rings Online, instead. YetVanguardremains, and much like its competition did some time ago, it’s made the move tofree-to-play.
SOE are promising to enhance the game and provide regular updates, which will no doubt please its current users. I seem to remember mounted combat being a thing they were making a fuss about back in 2007, but it looks like it’s not a feature. Fighting on a dragon is, I admit, a major draw for me. Regardless, this might be the right time to take a look at a game I almost bought five years ago.
