Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus IIwas just announced during the festival of absurdly massive shoulder pads, also known as Warhammer Skulls 2024.Mechanicus IIalsogot a traileralongside the reveal, showing no gameplay but certainly increasing intrigue. Mostly because the enemy faction will now be playable.

Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus IIwill feature not just one, but two campaigns to complete. Naturally, you can once more praise the Omnissiah as the Adeptus Mechanicus faction. But the second part of theMechanicus IIstory lets you shed that weak flesh to play as the Necrons — fully robotic humanoids with kickass metal skulls for faces.

Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus IIreturns with strategy action

Beyond the new change with an additional faction to play,Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus IIis still heavy on the action and strategy. No matter the side you start with, you’re tasked with assembling a legion of warriors to maneuver across the environment. The developers are promising new mechanics to learn and use against your foe. Both factions also seem to sport their own way of clearing a battlefield, with the Adeptus Mechanicus keen on using cover, whereas the Necrons are more likely to just blow it all to hell. I like these guys.

After millennia of slumber, Vargard Nefershah mobilises her dynasty’s legions to annihilate the Adeptus Mechanicus interlopers who unknowingly settled upon her world. Across the galaxy, Magos Dominus Faustinius is summoned to bring his hard-won expertise to bear and ensure the Necrons do not succeed. The conflict soon becomes a crucible of unanticipated significance, drawing to it external actors stranger and more deadly still.
