Hollywood isn’t doneabusing videogamesyet, it seems. The long dormantGod of Warfilm adaptation is getting renewed thanks to Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, writers of the four latestSawfilms and a draft for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming epicPacific Rim. When I thinkGod of War, I think shallow characters, stupidity, and brutality, so maybe these two guys are the perfect fit, all things considered.

Things aren’t so bad, however. While Melton and Dunstan will be writing the screenplay, it will be based off David Self’s initial draft. Self wrote the excellentRoad to Perditionadaptation, so that gives me some hope. Then again, I don’t know how you can justify the series’ butchering of Greek mythology at the cinema. I’m willing to shrug off a lot of the story because it drives forward the game’s action, but a film adaption will be under much more scrutiny, at least from me.
