XDefiantmay only have been out for a week, but Ubisoft’sCall of Dutycompetitor has already broken some major milestones, reportedly hitting over seven million unique players.

According toInsider Gaming, Ubisoft expected to cross the eight million mark by the end of May 28, and has already set company records for players. According to the article, the publisher’s internal goal was to reach five million unique players within a month of release, a milestone that has been smashed within seven days.

Unique players are categorized as players who downloaded the game and opened it at least once. Of course, the 7.6 million will be made up of players who didn’t return after the first play, but it still shows that interest and early reviews for the game were strong enough to entice people in.

On top of that, the success ofModern Warfare 3left many wondering if Ubisoft had missed their chance, and would be unable to compete withCoD.
